My name is Mike Eccles. I'm married with two children and we live in Nunthorpe on the South side of Middlesbrough in the North East of England.
Last year I left my role as a Human Resources Manager for a chemical company - Huntsman Tioxide - who make white titanium dioxide pigments. The Company has sites throughout the world, and is owned by Huntsman, the world's largest privately held group of companies. I had a fantastic experience with the Company, including meeting Bill Clinton and the Prince of Wales, and two flights on Concorde, but after nearly 32 years with the Company, I have set off on an adventure, moving into the world of self-employment providing HR support to those who need it most. (I was supported by the excellent people and procedures of Penna, a company which has strong outplacement capabilities as part of its portfolio). We are a Christian family, and worship at The Church of the Lamb of God, a Christian Fellowship currently meeting at the Connections Campus of Redcar & Cleveland College on Redcar Lane, Redcar (10:00 am on Sunday mornings - you are very welcome to join us). We enjoy contemporary Christian music and you will find many of our favourite resources identified on my Christian Links page (with some information about each). I have recently been given the great privilege of becoming an Elder of the church. I have been asked to take on responsibility for much of the church's administration (for example we had a baptism event recently at Saltburn Leisure Centre, and that was my first taste of the new responsibilites). I am also responsible for the running of the sound desk which supports our talented worship team.
I enjoy my garden (although it is a challenge to maintain it) and gardens in general, and have dabbled in bird watching through the influence of an old friend from school days.
I also spend time reading, mainly non-fiction these days, and take great pleasure from inspirational words, some of which I've reproduced in the Inspiration section of this site.
I indulge in a little photography, so wherever possible if there are photographs on this site, they have come about through my own efforts.
I have to admit to the fact that the true reason for creating this domain and site still eludes me, so for now it will reflect my own interests, and things related to them. Time will tell where this all ends up.
