One of the things I really enjoy about my garden is the fact that all sorts of wildlife take advantage of the habitat. Just sitting quietly and watching what's going on can lead to all sorts of surprises. When I'm really lucky the camera is to hand, and the object of my interest doesn't disappear before I can try to capture it on film. Below are some of the visitors that I've managed to snap - not all are photographically brilliant (understatement) but for me are nonetheless pleasing. I am particularly proud of capturing the fox on film - it was fascinated by the guineapig in its run (safe thank goodness).

I seem to have had large birds perching in nearly photographable places recently - hence the first couple of images!

I've listed all the birds which I've identified in the garden on a separate page entitled "Birdlist".

The images are titled as you move your mouse over them (clicking on the small images will take you to a higher quality version opened in a new window - close the window to return).

A pheasnt in a tree - unusual? Grey heron on a neighbour's roof Sadly Ginger the guineapig died recently, not really wildlife, but deserving of a place here
Winter fun for one of the squirrels Some may not like this... The squirrel is really rather ingenious at getting to food!
Siskin on thistle seed feeder Bullfinch on thistle seed feeder Goldfinch on thistle seed feeder
Blackbird helping me in the vegetable garden Blackbird sunning itself Pigeon print on the lounge window (ouch!)
Robin keeping an eye on me Long tailed tit on one of the apple trees Robin wanting to help with the digging!
Another blackbird sunning itself - it looks as though it has crash landed! Peacock butterfly enjoynig the sun on the patio Our one-legged magpie (you'll have to take my word for it) resting in the grass
The grey squirrels like my birdtable Sometimes the squirrel takes up a look out position Back to the bird table again
Only once have I seen an urban fox in the garden The mouse takes advantage of a free meal This rabbit was a real nuisance for the year or so that it was in residence
The hedgehog let me come realy close Wasp taking wood for its nest from my garden bench - not my favourite neighbour when I'm relaxing These lily beetles wrecked a tub of lilies outside my front door
